Mike McCarthy did a great job as a rookie head coach

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General by ravenhater on Saturday 13 January 2007 at 7:23 pm

Mike McCarthy came back to the Packers to be their head coach after serving as Brett Favre’s QB coach during the 1999 season.  This is McCarthy’s first head coaching job but he handled it like a veteran.  He helped Favre rebound from his worst season of his career and Ahman Green also rebounded big time.  The Packers needed the old guys to perform while they were rebuilding the defense.  The Packers finished at 8-8 (50%) this season, but the future looks bright for the Packers as McCarthy looks like the right guy to call the shots.

Brett Favre shows that he’s not done

Brett Favre played well this season and now has alot of Dan Marino’s records in his sight.  Favre started all 16 games last season and he completed 343 of 613 passes (56%) for 3,885 yards with 18 TD passes and 18 interceptions (72.7 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 23 times for 29 yards (1.3 ypc) with 1 TD run.  For his outstanding career, Favre has played in 241 games (237 starts) and has completed 5,021 of 8,223 passes (61.1%) for 57,500 yards with 414 TD passes and 273 interceptions (85.1 QB Rating).  He also has carried the football 526 times for 1,774 yards (3.4 ypc) with 13 TD runs.

Aaron Rodgers appeared in two games last season before breaking his foot.  He completed 6 of 15 passes (40%) for 46 yards (48.2 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 2 times for 11 yards (5.5 ypc).  For his career, Rodgers has played in 5 games (no starts) and has completed 15 of 31 passes (48.4%) for 111 yards with 1 interception (43.9 QB Rating).  He also has carried the football 4 times for 18 yards (4.5 ypc).

Hey Packer fans,

You need to know that after following the Packers for almost 30+ years that being an avid fan and a football coach, there are a few things I have some knowledge about.  Brett “YOU THE MAN!    Brett has carried this football team for the past 16 years and even though he has some good talent around him, without him this year we win maybe 2 games if we are lucky!  This guy plays the game the way it’s supposed to be played and Donald Driver, what can I say about him.  He is awesome!  Ahman good riddens!  Let’s draft a college running back that can help this team.  Ahman has had some great years…but it’s time for him to move on. Morency is a good back…and if we were to draft a guy like Marhsawn Lynch from California and get a another speed wide receiver, Brettt would be back in a heartbeat.  I wish the team had the heart Brett has.  He presented the kind of person he is with his interview with Andrea Kremer on NBC Sunday.  We have the makings of a good football team next year if Brett gives it one more year.
