Why on earth would you risk an interception or any given # of things that can go wrong on a pass play when it is 3rd and 1????I am at a complete loss on why the coaches would call that pass play.O M G technically you could run the ball once or twice and get a yard———- I think calling a pass play in that situation, no matter what their defense looks like is just Dumb!!!!!
The Packers were given this win on a platter by the Eagles. Reserve linebacker Tracy White recovered a fumble on a punt return…in the end zone for a TD. Another muffed Eagles punt return resulted in rookie kicker Mason Crosby hitting a 42-yard field goal to win the game with 2 seconds left in the game. Brett Favre didn’t have his best game as he completed 23 of 42 passes for 206 yards with 1 interception. Rookie Brandon Jackson ran the football 15 times for 40 yards (2.7 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 35 yards (8.8 avg). Donald Driver led all receivers on the Packers with 6 grabs for 66 yards (11.0 avg). The Packers finished up rushing for 46 yards on 17 carries (2.7 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 42 passes for 169 yards.
Linebacker Nick Barnett led a good defensive effort for the Packers with 13 tackles and 1 interception. The Packers held the Eagles to 103 yards rushing on 29 carries (3.6 ypc) and the Eagles completed 15 of 33 passes for 180 yards.
This seems a little low to me considering how well the Packers played last season plus the fact that they play in the weak NFC North and get to play the Vikings and Lions both twice. I see the Packers rallying around Brett Favre as he sets some all-time records this season. Also, look for the defense to force a lot of turnovers due to the pressure DEs Aaron Kampman and Cullen Jenkins are going to bring. Take the over with the Packers this season.
Look for the Packers to attempt to run the football early in the game to take advantage of the Eagles weakness between the tackles. RBs Brandon Jackson and Vernand Morency have been gimpy in the pre-season but when they watch film of the Eagles they will just likely take some painkillers and get on the field. MLB Omar Gaither and OLB Takeo Spikes must step up and stop that Packers running game. The Packers will probably run to the left where there best two O-Linemen play. LG Daryn Colledge and LT Chad Clifton should get a good push against the Eagles front. The Packers O-Line must control DEs Jevon Kearse and Trent Cole to give Brett Favre the chance to go down the field with the football. The Packers need their receivers to step up in this game. With Donald Driver a little gimpy the Packers need Greg Jennings and rookie James Jones to step up. The veteran secondary of the Eagles will cause the Packers some trouble. CBs Lito Sheppard an Sheldon Brown are solid and safeties Sean Considine and Brian Dawkins are outstanding football players.
It will be interesting to see if Packers K Mason Crosby has the jitters in his debut. Eagles K David Akers is one of the most underrated at his position as he is clutch.
PREDICTION:Â Look for the Eagles to beat the Packers as they have owned them at Lambeau Field lately and the Packers have not played well at home in quite a while.Â

The Packers have signed up 4 players to serve on their practice squad. Rookie WR David Clowney will be around in case anyone in the receiving corps gets injured. He caught 5 passes for 32 yards (6.4 avg) in the pre-season. TE Clark Harris will also be around if the need arises but he only caught 1 pass for 20 yards in the pre-season. The Packers decided to give QB Paul Thompson a chance to be their #3 QB behind Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers this season. Thompson completed 11 of 19 passes (57.9%) for 86 yards with 0 TD passes and 2 interceptions (29.6 QB Rating). He will need to improve during practice to ever get a shot if the need arises for the Packers. RB Corey White was very busy in the pre-season as he carried the football 34 times for 108 yards (3.2 ypc). He will likely get a shot at some point as the Packers are thin and weak at running back heading into the 2007 season.
The Packers have placed Noah Herron on the Injured Reserve List ending his season. This is a blow to the Packers who already have had many injuries to their RB corps. Herron carried the football 7 times for 24 yards (3.4 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 30 yards (10.0 avg) with 1 TD grab.
The Packers have acquired RB Ryan Grant from the New York Giants for a 6th round pick in 2008. Grant played well in the pre-season for the Giants as he carried the football 18 times for 90 yards (5.0 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 18 yards. Grant could get some action with the Packers as early as this weekend as the Packers are banged up at the position. The Packers have also claimed RB John Kuhn off waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kuhn carried the ball 3 times in 5 yards (1.7 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 12 yards in the pre-season for the Steelers. Kuhn played in 9 games as a rookie last season for the Steelers and he carried the ball 2 times for 18 yards and he also caught 1 pass for 15 yards.
The Packers have released kicker Dave Rayner and they have named rookie Mason Crosby as the starter. Crosby has made 3-4 field goals in the pre-season but his miss was on a FG attempt of over 50 yards. Rayner nailed all three of his field goal attempts but he was cut more because of his play last season than anything he did in the pre-season. Crosby does have a much stronger leg than Rayner so the Packers are confident that they made the right move.
The Packers only had a couple of bright spots Thursday Night against the Titans. Brett Favre was the sharpest he’s been in the pre-season as he connected on 8 of 10 passes for 82 yards and a TD. Aaron Rodgers followed with his worst performance of a good pre-season as he completed 3 of 7 passes for 35 yards. The #3 QB was Paul Thompson and he completed 6 of 9 passes for 37 yards. Rookie RB DeShawn Wynn was finally ready to play so the Packers made him work for his paycheck as he carried the football 21 times for 54 yards (2.6 ypc). Rookie wideout James Jones continued to impress with 5 catches for 37 yards (7.4 avg). The Packers offense was pretty bad Thursday Night as they finished with only 61 yards rushing on 27 carries (2.3 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 26 passes for 135 yards.
The defense and special teams both had issues against the Titans. Still, it was nice to see DT Justin Harrell have a good game as he made 4 tackles and recovered a fumble that he returned 18 yards for a TD. The Titans scored on a 70 yard punt return by rookie WR Chris Davis. The Titans also rushed for 152 yards on 32 carries (4.8 ypc) and they completed 20 of 28 passes for 164 yards.
