Chicago Bears 35, Green Bay Packers 7

The Packers really laid an egg yesterday in Chicago and it cost them any chance they had of gaining the #1 seed in the NFC.  Brett Favre had his worst game of the season as he completed 17 of 32 passes for 153 yards with 2 interceptions.  RB Ryan Grant was one of the only players to show up on offense for the Packers as he rushed for 100 yards on 14 carries (7.1 ypc) with a TD run.  9 different receivers caught passes for the Packers last week but no one caught more than 4 passes or had more than 42 yards.  The Packers finished up with 125 yards rushing on 21 carries (6.0 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 32 passes for 149 yards.

Nick Barnett (11 tackles) and A.J. Hawk (8 tackles) led the way for the Packers Defense.  The Bears finished up with 139 yards rushing on 45 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 8 of 14 passes for 101 yards.

The Packers didn’t have the football very long (23:36) of the football game but they made the most of it.  Brett Favre completed 19 of 30 passes for 227 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 interceptions.  Favre also passed Dan Marino in career passing yards becoming the leader in NFL History!  Ryan Grant found little running room as he carried the ball 18 times for 55 yards (3.1 ypc) with a TD run.  Donald Driver (5 rec, 80 yards) and Greg Jennings (4 rec, 66 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Packers.  The Packers finished up with 52 yards rushing on 23 carries (2.3 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 30 passes for 227 yards.

The Packers Defense was led by Nick Barnett (13 tackles, 2 sacks), A.J. Hawk (7 tackles, sack) and Atari Bigby (4 tackles, 2 sacks).  The Rams finished up with 173 yards rushing on 31 carries (5.6 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 39 passes for 191 yards.

Green Bay Packers vs. St. Louis Rams

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, This Week's Matchup Report, General by admin on Thursday 13 December 2007 at 1:31 am

This game appears to be a gigantic mis-match on paper.  This game pits Brett Favre who is only 183 passing yards behind Dan Marino for the all-time record of 61,361 passing yards.  Favre’s opponent has 153 career passing yards (Brock Berlin).

Brett Favre will likely spread his receivers out early in this football game and try to build a lead throwing the ball.  If the Packers achieve that they will then ride Ryan Grant running the ball to the finish line.  The Rams are allowing 333.3 total yards per game so the Pack should have no problems moving the football and putting points on the scoreboard.

The Rams will try to feed Steven Jackson the football and see if they can control the clock.  But, the Packers will stack the box unless Brock Berlin can hit some passes to loosen up the defense.  Berlin also must be careful with the ball as the Packers have 32 sacks and 15 interceptions so far this season.

PREDICTION:  GREEN BAY PACKERS 31, ST. LOUIS RAMS 13

Green Bay Packers 38, Oakland Raiders 7

The Packers dominated all phases of the game yesterday and they improved to 11-2 on the season.  Brett Favre looked like he was 100% yesterday despite all of his injuries as he completed 15 of 23 passes for 266 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception.  Ryan Grant had his best game of his career running the ball as he carried the ball 29 times for 156 yards (5.4 ypc) with a TD run.  Vernand Morency also got a taste of the action as he carried the ball 7 times for 23 yards (3.3 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 14 yards (4.7 avg).  WR Greg Jennings (2 rec, 100 yards, TD) and TE Donald Lee (4 rec, 71 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Packers.  The Packers finished up with 179 yards rushing on 36 carries (5.0 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 23 passes for 266 yards.

Linebackers Nick Barnett (10 tackles) and A.J. Hawk (8 tackles) led the way for the Packers defense yesterday.  The Raiders finished up with 85 yards rushing on 28 carries (3.0 ypc) and they also completed 12 of 23 passes for 148 yards.

Reserve CB Will Blackmon had a monster game for the Packers.  He returned a punt 57 yards for a TD and he also recovered a fumble in the end zone for another TD.

The Green Bay Packers will be without Aaron Rodgers for a week or two

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Packer News, Injury Reports, General by admin on Saturday 8 December 2007 at 9:32 am

The Packers will be without backup QB Aaron Rodgers for 1-2 weeks with a pulled hamstring.  Rodgers has played well this season and with Brett Favre also gimpy his injury could hurt the team.  Rodgers has played in 2 games so far this season and he has completed 20 of 28 passes (71.4%) for 218 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 interceptions (106.0 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 7 times for 29 yards (4.1 ypc).  The Packers have signed former Packers QB Craig Nall and he will be Favre’s backup this week.  Nall has played in 6 games in his NFL career and he has completed 23 of 33 passes (69.7%) for 314 yards with 4 TD passes and 0 interceptions (139.4 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 5 times for 5 yards (1.0 ypc).  Packers fans should pray that Favre stays healthy because Nall would likely be pretty rusty.
