Green Bay Packers vs. St. Louis Rams

This game appears to be a gigantic mis-match on paper.  This game pits Brett Favre who is only 183 passing yards behind Dan Marino for the all-time record of 61,361 passing yards.  Favre’s opponent has 153 career passing yards (Brock Berlin).

Brett Favre will likely spread his receivers out early in this football game and try to build a lead throwing the ball.  If the Packers achieve that they will then ride Ryan Grant running the ball to the finish line.  The Rams are allowing 333.3 total yards per game so the Pack should have no problems moving the football and putting points on the scoreboard.

The Rams will try to feed Steven Jackson the football and see if they can control the clock.  But, the Packers will stack the box unless Brock Berlin can hit some passes to loosen up the defense.  Berlin also must be careful with the ball as the Packers have 32 sacks and 15 interceptions so far this season.

So I’m in downtown St. Louis today, trying to get some pictures, but forget it, because it’s just a couple of notches short of a blizzard, and I’ve got all my camera equipment covered up with shower caps, but everywhere I look there are tourists in the streets with their cameras and their kids bundled up like mummies.

Packers fans, in town for the weekend, wandering around in the 20 kn 30° breeze coming off the river, sleet and snow piling up in the streets, while they snap pictures of the arch, even though most of it is obscured by the low hanging clouds and snow flurries. Happily they conduct extended photo shoots in front of frozen monuments and snow obscured contemporary art sculptures.

While St. Louisians are scurrying from shelter to shelter heads down, obviously suffering, these Wisconsinites are smiling and laughing, running around like kids on a Midsummer’s day.

I guess it just goes to show, it’s all relative.

Side note: I once worked on Brett Favre’s car, a Mitsubishi 3000 GT, at a place called Horsepower Sales in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in the early 90s. True story. The first thing that struck me when I met him, was how much bigger he looked on TV.
