2. (60) Patrick Lee, CB

The Packers got good value with their third pick in the 2nd round of the draft as Lee has a nice upside.  He’s a little bit on the small side at 5′11″, 194 pounds but he’s lightning quick running a 4.41 40.  Lee only started one season at Auburn so he might take a while to develop into anything more than a nickel back in the pros but he’s an outstanding gunner on special teams where he will likely start from Day #1.  Lee played in 49 games (21 starts) at Auburn and he made 103 tackles, broke up 21 passes, intercepted 5 passes, forced 2 fumbles and recovered a fumble.  Lee was another solid pick for the Packers.

2. (56) Brian Brohm, QB

Selecting Brohm where the Packers got him was a stroke of genius.  Brohm would have been a top 10 pick if he left school a year early but he returned for his senior season and played well.  The Baltimore Ravens will wish they took Brohm instead of Joe Flacco….mark my words.  Aaron Rodgers better be ready to go from Day #1 because Brohm will put the heat on him to produce.  Brohm is a big guy at 6′5″, 227 and he runs a 4.89 40, so he’s a pretty good athlete.  He doesn’t have the strongest arm around but he has been very effective in his college career.  Brohm has played in 44 games (33 starts) in his career at Louisville and he completed 780 of 1,185 passes (65.8%) for 10,775 yards with 71 TD passes and only 24 interceptions.  Once again, this was an outstanding pick by the Packers.

2. (36) Jordy Nelson, WR

The Packers didn’t really need another receiver in this draft but they felt that Nelson was just too good of a player to pass up.  Nelson is a big receiver at 6′2″, 215 pounds but he’s not the fastest WR around as he runs a 4.52 40.  Still, Nelson’s game is a power one as he is fearless over the middle which should help out either Aaron Rodgers or Brian Brohm.  Nelson played in 36 games (32 starts) at Kansas State and he caught 206 passes for 2,822 yards (13.7 avg) with 20 TD grabs.  Nelson will also help out on special teams as he returned 2 of his career 5 punt returns for TDs.  Nelson will make the Packers’ passing game even more lethal than it was last season as long as the Pack gets good play from the QB.
