The Packers didn’t really need another receiver in this draft but they felt that Nelson was just too good of a player to pass up.  Nelson is a big receiver at 6’2″, 215 pounds but he’s not the fastest WR around as he runs a 4.52 40.  Still, Nelson’s game is a power one as he is fearless over the middle which should help out either Aaron Rodgers or Brian Brohm.  Nelson played in 36 games (32 starts) at Kansas State and he caught 206 passes for 2,822 yards (13.7 avg) with 20 TD grabs.  Nelson will also help out on special teams as he returned 2 of his career 5 punt returns for TDs.  Nelson will make the Packers’ passing game even more lethal than it was last season as long as the Pack gets good play from the QB.
