The Green Bay Packers lose starting guard Josh Sitton

The Packers have lost starting left guard Josh Sitton for at least three games due to a sprained knee.  The Packers will likely have Junius Coston replace Sitton in the starting lineup.  He is a center by trade but he should be able to handle playing guard.  He played in 13 games (7 starts) for the Packers last season and he’s a big boy at 6′3″, 313 pounds.  The Packers probably won’t see that big of a dropoff with Coston starting instead of Sitton.

WR James Jones could miss a couple of weeks for the Green Bay Packers

WR James Jones could miss several weeks with a knee injury.  He caught 7 passes for 68 yards (9.7 avg) with a TD grab this preseason as he was looking to be the #3 WR for the Packers again in 2008.  Jones had a fine rookie season in 2007 with the Packers as he played in 16 games (9 starts) and he caught 47 passes for 676 yards (14.4 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Look for Ruvell Martin and rookie Jordy Nelson to move up the depth chart until Jones is ready to return.  Martin has caught 4 passes for 51 yards (12.8 avg) this preseason for the Packers.  He played well for the Packers when given the chance in 2007 as he played in 15 games (5 starts) last year for them and he caught 16 passes for 242 yards (15.1 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  Rookie WR Jordy Nelson has caught 5 passes for 48 yards (9.6 avg) this preseason for the Packers and he appears to have a much bigger upside than Martin does.
