The Packers were winning this football game 38-10 at the half but it took a Ruvell Martin kickoff return for a TD with 33 seconds left in the game to seal this win.  Aaron Rodgers was outstanding in this game as he completed 14 of 19 passes for 258 yards with 3 TD passes.  Brian Brohm finished up this game by completing 4 of 5 passes for 45 yards.  Ryan Grant led the way on the ground for the Packers in this game with 22 yards on five carries (4.4 ypc).  WR Jordy Nelson (3 rec, 88 yards, TD) and TE Jermichael Finley (4 rec, 28 yards, 2 TDs) led the way in the passing game for the Packers in this game.  The Packers only had the ball for 26:23 of this football game but the still rolled up 408 total yards on offense (123 rushing, 285 passing).

CB Charles Woodson was all over the field in this game as he finished with 4 tackles, 2 sacks and he recovered a fumble.  Linebacker Desmond Bishop was also very active as he led the Packers with 9 tackles in this game.  The Cardinals finished up with a stunning 563 total yards of offense in this game (108 rushing, 455 passing).

Green Bay Packers 31, Buffalo Bills 21

The Packers were dominating in this game in the first half as they led 24-0 at the break before letting the Bills back in the game a bit.  Aaron Rodgers was incredible completing 8 of 9 passes for 98 yards with 2 TD passes.  Matt Flynn made a very brief appearance completing 1 of 2 passes for 13 yards.  Brian Brohm was not really that effective in this game completing 12 of 19 passes for 83 yards with 1 interception.  Undrafted rookie RB Tyrell Sutton had another huge game rushing for 49 yards on 11 carries (4.5 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Ryan Grant was also effective carrying the ball 10 times for 43 yards (4.3 ypc) with a TD run.  He also caught 2 passes for 21 yards (10.5 avg).  TE Jermichael Finley (3 rec, 46 yards) and WR Kole Heckendorf (3 rec, 30 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Packers in this game.  The Packers finished up with 292 yards of total offense in this game (108 rushing, 184 passing).  The Packers would have likely had about double that total if the starters played the whole game.

The Packers’ D played good in the first half before the scrubs came in.  LB Brady Poppinga was everywhere for the Packers in this game as he had 2 tackles, recovered a fumble and he picked off a pass.  CBs Joe Porter and Tramon Williams each had 7 tackles apiece to pace the Packers’ D.  The Bills finished up with 363 total yards on offense (90 rushing, 273 passing) but most of it came in garbage time.

The Green Bay Packers release center Duke Preston

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Packer News, General by admin on Saturday 29 August 2009 at 11:27 am

The Packers have released 27-year old center Duke Preston.  Preston played in 15 games (11 starts) for the Bills last season.  Don’t feel too bad for Preston as he will have a long line of teams that want to sign him.  This kind of move signals strength along the offensive line for the Packers.

Green Bay Packers 17, Cleveland Browns 0

The Packers rushed out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and then it seemed as if they called off the dogs.  Aaron Rodgers was sharp in this game completing 5 of 10 passes for 102 yards with 1 TD pass.  Matt Flynn was also effective completing 5 of 6 passes for 50 yards in this game.  Brian Brohm finished up this game and he was simply awful completing 3 of 10 passes for 18 yards with 2 interceptions.  Undrafted rookie Tyrell Sutton was outstanding for the Packers in this game rushing for 91 yards on 16 carries (5.7 ypc).  Donald Driver only caught 1 pass but it was a doozy going for 53 yards and it was a TD.  The Packers rushed for a stunning 230 yards on 47 carries (4.9 ypc).  The also threw for 162 yards and held onto the football for a stunning 39:56 of this game!

The defense was flat out dominating for the Packers in this game holding the Browns to 191 total yards on offense (59 rushing, 132 passing).  Linebacker Desmond Bishop and safety Anthony Smith each had 4 tackles, a sack and a interception in this game.  Safety Charlie Peprah and CB Tramon Williams each picked off a pass in this game.  The only disappointment in this game was that the Packers only won by 17 points.

The Green Bay Packers sign OLB/DE Stryker Sulak

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Packer News, General by admin on Saturday 15 August 2009 at 10:33 pm

The Packers have signed 23-year old OLB/DE Stryker Sulak to a 1-year deal.  Sulak has nice size for outside linebacker at 6′5″, 250 pounds but he doesn’t have any playing experience on Sundays.  He looks like practice squad material.

UPDATE:  Stryker has been released by the Packers.  He played in three pre-season games for the Packers this season without making any tackles.
