The Packers have signed 24-year old Josh Bell.  Bell played in 9 games as a rookie last season for the Broncos and he made 34 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss and he defensed 4 passes.  Bell is a tad on the small side at 5′11″, 177 pounds but the Packers need help at cornerback and on special teams so this was a smart signing for them.

The Packers have signed 32-year old Ahman Green to back up Ryan Grant.  Green played in 8 games (1 start) for the Texans last season and he carried the ball 74 times for 294 yards (4.0 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  He also caught 11 passes for 32 yards (2.9 avg).  Green was once one of the best running backs in Packers’ history and they hope he still has something left in the gas tank.  Green played 7 years for the Packers appearing in 96 games (91 starts) in which he carried the ball 1,810 times for 8,162 yards (4.5 ypc) with 53 TD runs.  He also has caught 347 passes for 2,708 yards (7.8 avg) with 14 TD grabs with the Pack.  It will be exciting to see Ahman Green back where he belongs.

With the Packers hurting at safety they have decided to sign 26-year old Matt Giordano.  He played in all 16 games for the Colts last season and he made 23 tackles and defensed 1 pass.  Giordano has played in 55 games in his 4-year NFL career in which he has made 80 tackles, defensed 8 passes and he has 3 interceptions (89 return yards, 1 TD).   The Packers better get him up to speed quickly because they will need him this week against the Rams.

The Packers have signed 23-year old OLB/DE Stryker Sulak to a 1-year deal.  Sulak has nice size for outside linebacker at 6′5″, 250 pounds but he doesn’t have any playing experience on Sundays.  He looks like practice squad material.

UPDATE:  Stryker has been released by the Packers.  He played in three pre-season games for the Packers this season without making any tackles.

The Packers have signed C/G Duke Preston.  The 26-year old Preston played in 15 games (11 starts) for the Bills last season.  He has now played in 59 games (20 starts) in his NFL career to date.  The 6′5″, 326 pound Preston should push for the starting job in Training Camp this season for the Packers on the interior of the O-Line.  This was a good signing as Preston is just starting to come into his own.
