The Green Bay Packers lose OT Derek Sherrod for the season

Blogged under Big Packer News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,The Draft Report by admin on Monday 19 December 2011 at 7:49 pm

The Packers have lost 22-year old rookie OT Derek Sherrod for the rest of the season due to a broken leg suffered against the Chiefs yesterday.  Sherrod played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Packers this year.  He was a first round pick out of Mississippi State last April.  This is a bad break for the Packers and Sherrod as he was likely going to see a bump in P.T. the last two weeks of the regular season.

The Green Bay Packers lose WR Greg Jennings for the next 2-3 weeks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 13 December 2011 at 1:53 pm

The Packers will be without 28-year old WR Greg Jennings for the next 2-3 weeks as he has a sprained left knee.  Jennings has played in 13 games for the Packers so far this year and he caught 67 passes for 949 yards (14.2 avg) with 9 TD grabs.  The Packers are going to miss Jennings some as he is the best receiver on the Packers, but, they are loaded at WR and should be able to get by fine until he’s ready to return to action.

The Green Bay Packers lose TE Andrew Quarless for the rest of the 2011-12 season

Blogged under Big Packer News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 6 December 2011 at 3:38 am

23-year old TE Andrew Quarless is done for the season due to a knee injury that requires surgery.  Quarless played in 10 games for the Packers this year and he caught 3 passes for 36 yards (12.0 avg).  He has now played in 23 games in his first two years with the Packers and he has caught 24 passes for 274 yards (11.4 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Quarless was the Packers’ #3 TE, so they should be o.k. without him the rest of the way.

The Green Bay Packers lose rookie RB Alex Green for the season

Blogged under Big Packer News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,The Draft Report by admin on Tuesday 25 October 2011 at 11:43 pm

23-year old RB Alex Green was a third round pick out of Hawaii last April.  He lasted 4 games for the Packers in which he carried the ball 3 times for 11 yards (3.7 ypc).  He also caught 1 pass for six yards for the Packers this year.  Green is set to undergo season ending surgery on his left knee soon.  This is a bad break for Green, but the Packers should be o.k. without him for now.

The Green Bay Packers will be without LT Chad Clifton

Blogged under Big Packer News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Needs to Step Up by admin on Tuesday 11 October 2011 at 8:25 pm

The Green Bay Packers are going to be without 35-year old starting left tackle Chad Clifton for a while due to a hamstring injury.  He has started all five games for the Packers so far this year.  23-year old Michael Newhouse replaced him at LT against the Falcons and they scored in five of the seven series he played in.  Newhouse has played in 5 games (2 starts) so far this year for the Packers.  The Packers are going to miss Clifton, but they are hoping that Newhouse will be able to step up and lessen the blow.

The Green Bay Packers lose safety Nick Collins for the season

Blogged under Big Packer News,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Needs to Step Up by admin on Tuesday 20 September 2011 at 12:53 pm

The Packers have lost safety Nick Collins for the season with a serious neck injury.  Collins played in both games for the Packers this year and he had 12 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 forced fumble.  Collins has now played in 95 games in his first 7 years with the Packers and he has 419 tackles, 67 passes defensed, 21 interceptions (4 returned for TDs), 1 sack, 6 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries and 9 tackles for a loss.  Starting strong safety Morgan Burnett will slide back to free safety to replace Collins in the starting lineup.  Burnett has 21 tackles, 2 passes defensed, 1 interception, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble so far this year in the Packers’ first two games.   28-year old Charlie Peprah will replace Burnett as the starting strong safety.  He has 2 tackles in the Packers’ first two games this year.  Peprah played in 14 games for the Packers last year and he had 63 tackles, 2 interceptions, 5 passes defensed and 3 tackles for a loss.  Peprah did a solid job for the Packers when he replace an injured Morgan Burnett at strong safety, so the Packers have confidence in him.

UPDATE:  (10/12/2011) – The Packers have officially placed Nick Collins on the Injured Reserve List, ending his season.

The Green Bay Packers lose DE Mike Neal indefinitely

Blogged under Big Packer News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Thursday 15 September 2011 at 12:53 am

The Green Bay Packers have lost 24-year old DE Mike Neal indefinitely due to surgery on his left knee last week.  This is a bad break for Neal as he was likely going to get a lot more P.T. than he did as a rookie in 2010.  Neal played in only 2 games for the Packers last year but he had 3 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss and he forced a fumble.  Those are pretty impressive numbers for a guy getting his first taste in the NFL.

The Green Bay Packers place Anthony Smith on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 18 December 2010 at 10:16 pm

The Packers have placed 27-year old safety Anthony Smith on the Injured Reserve List, ending his season.  Smith played in 4 games for the Packers this year and he had 7 tackles.  He played in 7 games overall this year for the Packers & Jaguars and he finished up with 22 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception.  The Packers needed Smith’s roster spot to sign 25-year old QB Graham Harrell off the practice squad.  The former Texas Tech Red Raider QB will be Matt Flynn’s backup tomorrow night in New England.

The Green Bay Packers place two players on I.R.

Blogged under Big Packer News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 1 December 2010 at 2:34 am

The Packers have placed LB Brandon Chillar (shoulder injury) and TE/LB Spencer Havner (hamstring) on I.R. ending their seasons.  Chillar played in 8 games for the Packers this year and he has 16 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception while Havner only played in 1 game for the Packers and he did nothing but get hurt.  This will hurt the depth of the Packers at both linebacker and tight end a bit, but they should be o.k. moving forward.

The Green Bay Packers place Mark Tauscher on I.R.

Blogged under Big Packer News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 15 November 2010 at 1:51 pm

The Packers have placed 33-year old OT Mark Tauscher on the Injured Reserve List with a shoulder problem.  He played in 4 games (all starts) for the Packers this year.  Tauscher has played in 134 games (132 starts) in 11 years with the Packers.  The Packers have been playing without him and doing pretty well but they’ll still miss his veteran know how.
