Aaron Rodgers had a historic year for the Green Bay Packers

28-year old QB Aaron Rodgers led the Packers to a 14-1 record in his starts and he set a new all-time record for QB Rating in a season with a mark of 122.5.  Rodgers played in 15 games (all starts) for the Packers this year and he completed 343 of 502 passes (68.3%) for 4,643 yards with 45 TD passes and only 6 INTs (122.5 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 60 times for 257 yards (4.3 ypc) with 3 TD runs this year.  Rodgers has now played in 69 games (62 starts) in his NFL career so far and he has completed 1,381 of 2,113 passes (65.4%) for 17,366 yards with 132 TD passes and 38 INTs (104.1 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 249 times for 1,183 yards (4.8 ypc) with 16 TD runs so far in his NFL career.  Rodgers is now 41-21 (66.1%) as a starting QB during the regular season in his NFL career.

26-year old Matt Flynn has turned into a pretty darn good QB behind Aaron Rodgers.  He won his only start this year.  Flynn played in 5 games (1 start) for the Packers this year and he completed 33 of 49 passes (67.3%) for 518 yards with 6 TD passes and 2 INTs (124.8 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 13 times for -6 yards (-0.5 ypc) this year.  Flynn has now played in 34 games (2 starts) so far in his NFL career and he has completed 82 of 132 passes (62.1%) for 1,015 yards with 9 TD passes and 5 INTs (92.8 QB Rating). Flynn has also carried the ball 31 times for 19 yards (0.6 ypc) with 1 TD run so far in his NFL career.  Flynn is 1-1 (50%) as a starting QB for the Packers.

Aaron Rodgers is playing out of this world for the Green Bay Packers

28-year old QB Aaron Rodgers is turning in one of the best years in NFL history for a QB.  He has played in 13 games for the Packers so far this year and he has completed 305 of 438 passes (69.6%) for 4,125 yards with 39 TD passes and 6 INTs (123.3 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 53 times for 207 yards (3.9 ypc) with 2 TD runs so far this year.  These numbers might surprise people outside of Green Bay, but Packers’ fans know what they have in Aaron Rodgers.  Rodgers has now played in 67 games in his first 7 years in the NFL and he has completed 1,343 of 2,049 passes (65.5%) for 16,848 yards with 126 TD passes and 38 INTs (103.7 QB Rating).  Rodgers has also carried the ball 242 times for 1,133 yards (4.7 ypc) with 15 TD runs so far this year.  Rodgers is making everyone forget about Brett Favre in Green Bay and I never thought that would happen.

Jordy Nelson is having a big year for the Green Bay Packers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Tuesday 6 December 2011 at 4:45 pm

26-year old WR Jordy Nelson is really stepping up for the Green Bay Packers this year.  He has played in 12 games for the Packers so far this year and he has caught 48 passes for 876 yards (18.3 avg) with 9 TD grabs.  Nelson has already set career highs in receptions, yards and TDs with 4 games left in the 2011 season.  Packers’ QBs are completing an amazing 48 of 63 passes (76.2%) thrown in Nelson’s direction.  The most amazing thing about that completion % is that a lot of Nelson’s catches are down the field.  Nelson has now played in 57 games in his first four years with the Packers and he has caught 148 passes for 2,144 yards (14.5 avg) with 15 TD grabs.

John Kuhn is a money man for the Green Bay Packers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Tuesday 29 November 2011 at 11:37 pm

29-year old fullback John Kuhn knows how to get over the goal line for the Packers.  He has played in 11 games so far this year for the Packers and he has carried the ball 14 times for 20 yards (1.4 ypc) with 4 TD runs.  Kuhn has also caught 12 passes for 56 yards (4.7 avg) with 2 TD grabs so far this year.  He has now played in 73 games in his first five years with the Packers and he has carried the ball 114 times for 329 yards (2.9 ypc) with 10 TD runs.  Kuhn has also caught 40 passes for 228 yards (5.7 avg) with 8 TD grabs in his career with the Packers.  Aaron Rodgers is very comfortable in handing the ball off or throwing it to John Kuhn when he gets near the goal line, so look for him to continue getting his fair share of Lambeau Leaps.

Aaron Rodgers has been amazing for the Green Bay Packers in 2011

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Tuesday 22 November 2011 at 3:30 pm

27-year old QB Aaron Rodgers has taken his game to a whole new level this year.  He has played in 10 games for the Packers so far this year and he has completed 238 of 329 passes (72.3%) for 3,168 yards with 31 TD passes and 4 INTs (128.8 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 48 times for 176 yards (3.7 ypc) with 2 TD runs so far this year as he isn’t afraid to take off running when need be.  The Packers are going to go as far as Aaron Rodgers takes them this year as they have weaknesses, especially on defense this year.

Mike McCarthy has his Green Bay Packers rolling this year

47-year old head coach Mike McCarthy has his Packers rolling right now.  They are 8-0 on the season as they are winning by an average of 12 points per game!  The offense has been excellent as usual, but the defense hasn’t been too good this year as they are giving up 399.6 yards per game so far this year.  That is nitpicking, as the Packers are undefeated so far this year.  The Packers are now 56-32 (63.6%) in the regular season in McCarthy’s first 5.5 years in charge, and that’s pretty impressive.

The Green Bay Packers are getting good work out of the return men this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 5 November 2011 at 6:52 pm

Opposing teams have been kicking away from rookie WR Randall Cobb, and that’s the smart thing to do.  Cobb has returned 13 kickoffs for 496 yards (30.5 avg) with 1 TD return so far this year.  He has not been as good on punt returns as he has 12 returns for 97 yards (8.1 avg) so far this year.  TE Tom Crabtree (1 return for 11 yards) and WR Donald Driver (1 return for 5 yards) have both gotten chances when the opposing team has kicked the ball away from Cobb on kickoffs.  The Packers have returned 15 punts for 412 yards (27.5 avg) with 1 TD return and they have also returned 12 punts for 97 yards (8.1 avg) so far this year.

The Green Bay Packers have a lot of options at WR

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 26 October 2011 at 8:03 pm

No one has the kind of quality depth at WR that the Packers do.  Greg Jennings is Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target in the passing game, but he keeps all of his WRs involved in the offense.  Jennings has caught 42 passes for 677 yards (16.1 avg) with 5 TD grabs so far this year.  Jordy Nelson is also stepping up big time for the Packers this year.  He has caught 24 passes for 465 yards (19.4 avg) with 4 TD grabs so far this year.  James Jones started this year slowly, but he has picked up the pace after Donald Driver got dinged up.  Jones has caught 19 passes for 326 yards (17.2 avg) with 3 TD grabs so far this year.  Rookie Randall Cobb has been solid when called upon this year for the Packers.  He has caught 11 passes for 187 yards (17.0 avg) with 1 TD grab so far this year for the Packers.  Look for Cobb to have a much bigger role down the road for the Packers.  Veteran Donald Driver has been dinged up most of this year.  He has caught 13 passes for 107 yards (8.2 avg) with 2 TD grabs so far this year.  The Packers are loaded at WR.

The Green Bay Packers need a little more production out of the running game

It’s hard to find much wrong with the Green Bay Packers’ offense.  After all, they are averaging 423.7 yards and 32.8 points per game so far this year.  But, the Packers have not run the ball too well so far this year.  They are averaging only 98.5 yards rushing per game and 3.8 yards per carry so far this year, and they need to do better.  James Starks and Ryan Grant have been sharing the ball so far this year for the Packers.  Starks has played in all six games for the Packers so far this year and he has carried the ball 70 times for 299 yards (4.3 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He has also caught 15 passes for 113 yards (7.5 avg) so far this year.  He is the Packers’ future at RB.  Ryan Grant still has a little bit left in the gas tank though.  He has played in 5 games for the Packers so far this year and he has carried the ball 48 times for 200 yards (4.2 ypc).  Grant has also caught 7 passes for 52 yards (7.4 avg) so far this year.  At some point the Packers are going to need to run the ball a little bit more in 2011.

Aaron Rodgers is playing out of this world for the Green Bay Packers

27-year old QB Aaron Rodgers just keeps getting better for the Packers and that has to be scary for the rest of the NFL.  Rodgers has played in all five games for the Packers so far this year and he has completed 129 of 180 passes (71.7%) for 1,721 yards with 14 TD passes and 2 INTs (122.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 20 times for 52 yards (2.6 ypc) so far this year.  To me, Rodgers is the best QB in the NFL right now and I would take him over even Tom Brady.
