Packers Need Defense

Blogged under Uncategorized by skotak on Monday 18 September 2006 at 7:44 pm

The packers are a great offensive team, even though they were shut out against the bears.  I felt that in that game some of the early play calling was bad.  Brett Favre is a hall of fame quarterback and he needs to make more pass attempts than he did in that 1st half.  They don’t have a strong running game, Ahaman Green is a great player but you got to recognize who the defense is.  Bears stop the runs by loading the defensive line, so passing against them more will create the running game.  I felt that Packers should have passed a lot more on some of the 1st half series on 1st and 2nd downs.

They need to get someone better on defense in the safety position and in the line backer position, and this has been the case since the last 3 years not just now.  This dates back to the 4th and 26 against Philadelphia from 2004 Season.  Oh, I get a heart attack when I hear 4th and 26 anytime.  I mean all you do is play prevent and put 4 guys arond 25 yards, 3 around 20 yards, and rush 4, for some pressure.  I know its easier said than done, but I hope that the defensive coordinators see this and try to do something about the defense.  Just take a look at how many plays they have given up of more than 15 yards in the 2 games, over 10 in each game and the opponent 3rd and 4th down conversion is at 40%, and on 1st and 2nd down 50%, so overall teams are converting 1st downs nearly 45% of the plays or about 20 in a game.

I hope the team sees this and just focus on two things.  Trade someone to get faster defensive players or change the style of defense, put more pressure on QBs, blitz more.  Also  for sure, pass more, and pass more on 1st and 2nd downs.  You guys can’t let Brett Favre go out like this, he needs to make playoffs and I don’t even see why not even the Super Bowl.  There is really no better offensive team in the NL Central than Green Bay, if you use Farve at his best abilities.

Quarterback Job

It is time for the changing of the guard. Farve must retire. I can’t believe that the front office and coaching staff can continue to let him embarass himself.

The Packers Suck

I took great pleasure in watching the Bears destroy the Packers. I want to tell the Packer fans the glory days of Brett is gone. Good luck in 2010.
